Ethel Marie West was born to William & Pearl [Butler] Reisacher in Granite City, Illinois, and raised her three sons with her husband Russell Koenig West.
She and her family were all long time members of Neidringhaus Methodist Church in Granite City where she was, for many years, organist and or choir director.
After Russell's retirement she and Russell moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico in 1972 where they were active members of the Grace United Methodist Church. She remained active with her music as organist in small neighboring community churches into her nineties.
For more than thirty years she was an active member of the Alamogordo Senior Center and a volunteer delivery person for "Meals on Wheels". She would say "It's not so much the food. They need someone to talk to."
She was preceded in death by her husband Russell in 1980 and lived in their home with her prized rose garden until August, 2011 when she entered the Care Center in Mescalero, New Mexico.
She is survived by her sons and their families; Richard West & wife Dotti and grandson Russell West; Jim West [James] & wife Carol and grandson David Carl West & wife Amy Baird and great grandchildren, Kristin West, Susan Ensor (West), Brian Ensor, Bailey Ensor and Kevin Ensor; David West & wife Doris.
Funeral Services were held at on Wednesday September 21, 2011 at Grace United Methodist Church in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
Interment will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, Illinois.
A local memorial gathering and luncheon will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Jerry's Cafeteria, 1920 Edison Avenue in Granite City.
