Ellen R. Aubrey 92 of Granite City passed from this life on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Gateway Regional Medical Center with her family by her side. Ellen was born on December 31, 1917 in Granite City to George and Carolyn (Weber) Heth. Ellen led a very active life where she first worked at Coudy Lumber Company with her husband Sid. She served as a pre school teacher during WW II, worked at Boatman's Bank and a brokerage firm. She gave her time and talents to the Granite City Army Depot and owned her own income tax service, was the president of the Rotary Ann's and was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her daughters; Kathleen Aubrey of Granite City, Sharon & (Garry) Organ of Edwardsville; son, James & (Mary Lou) Aubrey of St. Louis; 3 grandchildren, Stephen Aubrey of Washington, DC, Doug & (Leigh Ann) Aubrey of Athens, GA, Greg & (Robin) Organ of Mansfield, MA; 3 great-grandchildren, Olivia Aubrey of Athens, GA, Haley & Aubrey Organ both of Mansfield, MA; 3 sisters, Grace Eccardt, Mary Antoff, Shirley Heath; brother, James Heth; step sisters, Jeanette Kienle & June Kosten. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sid Aubrey, whom she married in January 1939 and who passed from this life on April 16, 1965; her parents; sister, Genevieve Marler; brothers, George & William Heth; her 2nd husband, Dr. E. Gale Jones. Friends may call on Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2300 Pontoon Road in Granite City. A mass celebration will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Fr. Chris Comerford officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Glen Carbon. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to masses or St. Elizabeth food pantry.
