Edna Mae Barnes, 81, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 29, 2012 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. She was born August 29, 1931 in Granite City, a daughter of the late Roy and Edna (Kotovsky) Jones. She married Edward Stanley Barnes on January 8, 1949 in Madison and he survives.

She was a dedicated and loving homemaker, always dedicated to her family. She had sold Avon for many years and was a member of the Avon Club. She was an avid doll collector and enjoyed her days of traveling. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her husband, children and grandchildren.

In addition to her beloved husband of 63 years, she is survived by seven children and their spouses, Deborah and Richard Vest of Granite City, Cecil Edward Barnes of Granite City, Cecilia and Patrick McKinney of Belleville, Rhonda and Marion Hughes of Troy, Missouri, Timothy Reid Barnes of Granite City, Penny and Richard Wilson of Granite City and Tamara and Gregory Wofford of Collinsville; eleven grandchildren, Rodney Sampson, Jennifer Weathers, Cecil Barnes Jr., Kyle Smith, Jill Doebber, Carson Hughes, Rich Wilson, Theresa Smith, Joshua Wilson, Kelsey Wofford and Macey Wofford; twenty-three great grandchildren; three sisters, Audrey Layton of Washington, Alice Hudson of Granite City and Rae Marshall of Granite City; other extended family and friends.

In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Roy Edward Barnes; one brother, Edwin Jones and one sister, Ruth Hehly.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012. Reverend David Denton will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be accepted at the funeral home.
