Dorothy “Dottie” Macios Cook, 74, of Republic, Missouri, died peacefully Thursday, March 8, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.
Dottie was born in Granite City, Illinois on May 10, 1943.
She was full of life, extremely friendly, loved to talk, and had a huge heart. No matter where she went, she made friends and everyone loved her. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining.
Her hobbies included reading, crocheting, traveling, gardening, and shopping. She and her husband Don traveled overseas several times and even lived in Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.
Her family and friends were very important to her. She loved to sit and visit with them. She really enjoyed living near her grandchildren and attending their activities.
She was involved with Boy Scouts and Venture Scouts and helped her grandsons fundraise money by working concessions at the Springfield Cardinal games. Dottie was a dog person and loved all dogs.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who will be greatly missed! She will be looking down on all her loved ones from heaven.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Veronica (Babic) Macios; daughter, Cynthia L. Weckman; son, Douglas W. Weckman; and granddaughter, Alexandra F. Arnold.
Dottie is survived by her husband, Donald O. Cook; daughter, Donna (Cook) Arnold (James) of Springfield, Missouri; her grandsons Hunter Arnold of Houston, Texas, Douglas and Andrew Arnold of Springfield, Missouri; granddaughter Victoria Arnold of Houston, Texas; sister Constance (Macios) Simpson of Granite City, Illinois; and other family and treasured friends too numerous to mention.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Irwin Chapel Funeral Home in Granite City, Illinois.
The funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Irwin Chapel Funeral Home in Granite City, Illinois.
Internment in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Glen Carbon, Illinois.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at The Venues Church in Springfield, Missouri.
