Dorothy Cecilia Altefogt, 101, of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 2, 2016.

She was born January 11, 1915 in Glen Carbon, a daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Watsek) Mateyka Sr.

She married William Altefogt on January 14, 1939 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Edwardsville and he passed away on August 12, 1993 after 54 years of marriage.

She had worked many years in the cafeteria at Madison County Shelter Care and was a lifelong member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon.

She enjoyed her days of working in her yard, loved cooking for others, enjoyed flowers and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Joann (Altefogt) Voumard of Alton, Illinois; a granddaughter and caretaker, Michelle Daniels of Glen Carbon; a grandson, William Voumard of Arizona; a sister, Leona Hamilos of Glen Carbon; a sister-in-law, Eileen Mateyka of Edwardsville; several nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her two sons-in-law, Ed Voumard Sr. and Henry Bloodworth; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Raymond and Irma Mateyka, Joseph Mateyka Jr. and Leo Mateyka; an infant sister, Margaret Mateyka; a brother-in-law, Nick Hamilos and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mildred and Robert Schroeder.

In celebration of her life, a memorial Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Al Allen as celebrant.

Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to masses.
