Deloyce "Dee" Maples, 88, of Granite City, currently residing at Cedarhurst Assisted Living in Collinsville, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017.
The visitation and funeral service will be held at Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 9 - 11; with service at 11:00 at Unity Baptist Church (2500 St Clair Ave) in Granite City. The Rev. Mark Powell will be officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City.
Deloyce was born in St Louis, Missouri on April 2, 1929 to John D Craig and Lula (Boyle) Craig who are now deceased. She was also preceded in death by her first husband Thomas Richard Greer; her second husband Eugene B Maples; her grandson Devon Hemphill. Also her sister Jeanetta Foster; brother-in-laws Gene Cains, John Greer and Bob Greer; and two step daughters Judy Gebhardt, JoAnn Belke and step son James Maples
Deloyce worked as a production control clerk at Granite City Steel for many years. She enjoyed traveling, the Friday night dinner and card games with friends, and mostly spending time with her family. She was a charter member and actively involved in her church, Third Baptist Church in Granite City.
Deloyce is survived by two daughters, Diane (Trent) Daubs of Maryville and Nancy Hemphill of Hardin, IL; her grandchildren Keith (Natalie) Simon, Tim (Amanda) Simon, Katie (Jesse) Johnson and Christopher (Jessica Smith) Hemphill, Her great grandchildren, Asher, Kruz, Wyatt, Nora, Levi and Ariana. Also surviving is her sister Peggy Cains, brother Jim Craig; sister in laws June Ahlmeyer and Bernice Bartolucci; and step children Tom Maples, David Maples, Jack Maples, Kathy Wielgus, former son-in-laws Ken Simon and Don Hemphill; and many nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Unity (formerly Third) Baptist Church Hand Bell Fund. The family wishes to thank the many care givers and staff at Cedarhurst in Collinsville for the care of our mom these past 4+ years and Family Hospice for their extended care.
