Deloris Lea Bast, 76 of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL. She was born on January 22, 1936 in Chester, IL, the youngest of three daughters to the late Virgil B. and Tora (Simmons) Rice.
Deloris married Kenneth Woodworth at Madison, IL in January 1955. The couple had two children, Debbie and Kenneth Jr. Mr. Woodworth was employed by Union Starch Refining Company, Granite City, IL, he passed away in 1970. Deloris married David Bast of Edwardsville, IL in 1981. Dave and Deloris were owners of Judy Inn Tavern in Glen Carbon, IL for 25 years. They sold the business several years ago. Dave passed away in 2008. Both Dave and Deloris retired from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Since retiring, Dee spent time working in her yard, tending her numerous fruit trees, flowering bushes, irises, day lilies, and over forty rose bushes. She also enjoyed the company of her two dogs and began each morning with a vigorous games of fetch.
In addition to her parents and husbands; Deloris was preceded in death by her two sisters, Imogene Rice Houseman and Wilma Rice Garwood.
Deloris is survived by her son, Kenneth Woodworth, Jr. of Granite City, IL; daughter, Debbie Paganucci and son in law Drew Paganucci of Dillon, MT; and granddaughter, Erin Groeteka of Glen Carbon, IL.
Visitation: friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 12, 2012 at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Rd. Glen Carbon, IL.
In celebration of her life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Irwin Chapel, Glen Carbon, IL. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
Deloris was a supporter of Shriners Hospital for Children. The family would like memorial donations made to the hospital, and will be accepted at the funeral chapel.www.irwinchapel.com
