Juanita Geraldine “Deanie” Rodgers, 91, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 1:05 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2017 at St. Louis University Hospital.
She was born April 12, 1926 in Marmaduke, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Gerald and Edith (Ashton) Starnes.
She married Burley James “B.J.” Rodgers on December 4, 1946 in Paragould, Arkansas and he passed away on May 23, 2006.
She was a longtime dedicated and faithful member of Clark Avenue Church of Christ in Granite City. She enjoyed her days of bowling, sewing and cooking. She dedicated her life to raising her children and enjoyed the special times with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Frank and Sandy Rodgers of Granite City, Mace Rodgers of Granite City and Keith and Cindy Rodgers of Granite City; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Terry Hargis of Pontoon Beach; eight grandchildren and spouses, Kristy and Doug Perkins, Brian and Diana Rodgers, Jessica and Brandan West, Jennifer Rodgers, Lisa and Kelvin Brown, Brett Rodgers, Brittney Hargis and Cole and Amanda Hargis; six great grandchildren, Maria and Brandon Yeager, Izabella Perkins, Brian Gibson Rodgers, Kennedi Rodgers, Paige Briley and Broc Rodgers; a great-great grandchild, Vaita Yeager; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Minister Mike Allen officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or to the American Lung Association and may be accepted at the funeral home.
