Dean Roscoe Spencer, 96, of Glen Carbon and formerly of the Lisle and Downers Grove, Illinois communities passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Delmar Gardens North in Florissant, Missouri.
He was born January 6, 1921 in Marshall, Illinois, a son of the late Roscoe C. and Maymie (Smitley) Spencer.
He married Doris Virginia (Heckert) Spencer on July 23, 1960 in Glen Ellyn, Illinois and she passed away on June 1, 2005.
Dean served his communities as a lawyer with the Bean and Spencer Law Office in Downers Grove for many years and also retired from the Jewel Company Food Distribution in Melrose Park, Illinois with 35 years of legal service.
The United States Army Air Corp veteran proudly served his country during World War II.
He was a member of Bethany Peace United Church of Christ in St. Louis and was very involved working with the Lifelink Charities in Oak Brook, Illinois.
He was always trying to help others and enjoyed his days of traveling and taking cruises with his wife, skiing and playing golf.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Jo and Christopher Pierson of Florissant, Missouri; two grandsons, Zachary Pierson and Christopher and Nicole Allemann; sister-in-law, Mary Spencer; brother-in-law, Paul Siverly; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Paul and Charles “Rex” Spencer; sister, Cecelia Ann Siverly; sisters-in-law, Lois, Dorothy, and Verna Spencer.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Sunday, November 26, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Raymond Like officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
Memorials may be made to Lifelink Charities in Oak Brook, Illinois and may be accepted at the funeral home.
