David J. Abram, 67 of Glen Carbon passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
David was born on December 18, 1948 in Alton, IL. He was a millwright at U.S. Steel (retired March 2010) and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Dave was a huge outdoorsman who enjoyed many years of fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and bee keeping. Dave gave 21 years to the Glen Carbon Fire Department attaining the rank of Assistant Chief. He was very patriotic in giving his time and efforts to fund raising for veterans. Dave was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Keysport American Legion and Bethel United Methodist Church in Glen Carbon. Dave will be remembered for his giving heart and all the special times he shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by and will be missed by his wife; Robin (Harnetiaux) Abram, whom he married on May 4, 1996; his parents, George E. and Norma L. (Kuhn) Abram; his children, Andrea Abram of Granite City, Anna and (Aaron) Snyder of Billings, MT, Danielle Abram of Hilo, HI, Douglas and (Kelly) Bertrand of Worden, IL; grandchildren, Ariel Abram, Jade Smith, Javan Snyder, Leah Snyder, Audrey Bertrand, Ava Bertrand, Alyssa Bertrand; brother, Mark and (Shannon) Abram of Glen Carbon; sisters, Ruth Anne and (Bob) Abernathy of Troy, IL, Kim and (Alex) Morrison of Parker, CO. and many loving nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel J. Abram and George J. Abram; niece, Amy Abram and nephew Jeremy Cook.
Friends may call on Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon. In celebration of his life, services will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rob Schneider officiating. Burial will follow with full military rites at Glen Carbon City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Camp Hope.
