Clarence J. Wilder of Edwardsville passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Anderson Hospital surrounded by his family.

Clarence was born on January 11, 1931 in Staunton, IL, a son to the late Kenneth and Marie (Stiller) Wilder. He was a supervisor for Nooter Corporation in St. Louis for more than 40 years. The United States Army veteran proudly served his country in the Korean War, earning a Purple Heart and attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Clarence was a life time member of V.F.W. Post 1299, where he served as commander; past governor of the Edwardsville Moose Lodge; a member of the Edwardsville American Legion; Masonic Lodge 99; Ainad Shrine Temple and a former member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. In his free time he enjoyed playing his guitar and polka dancing with his wife. Clarence will be remembered for his kind heart and the many special times he shared with his family and friends.

He is survived by and will be missed by his wife of 61 years; Jeanine (Ostrowsky) Wilder; his daughters; Debbie and (Wayne) Reinneck of Edwardsville, IL, Diane Rolens of Bethalto, IL; his sons, Mark and (Janet) Wilder of Edwardsville, IL, Merle and (Julie) Wilder of Belleville, IL, Dean Wilder of Edwardsville, IL; grandchildren, Chad and (MaeRhanda) Rolens, Jason and (Stephanie) Reinneck, Kyle Reinneck, Matthew DeToy, Joel DeToy, Carmen Wilder, Owen Wilder; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Rolens, Paige Rolens, Alexa Shreve; brother, Maurice and (Mary) Wilder, and many dear nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his twin sister; Shirley Ahrens and his brothers, Eugene and Dwayne Wilder.

Join our family in your casual attire for the visitation of Clarence on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon. In celebration of Clarence's life services are on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Clint Wisdom officiating. Burial will follow with full military rites at St. James Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veteran's or the charity of one's choice.
