Charlotte Mildred Burris, age 100, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Stearns Nursing and Rehabilitation in Granite City.

She was born March 4, 1917 in Alton, Illinois, a daughter of the late John Yackel and the late Lillian (Spriggs) Snider.

Charlotte was a member of the First Christian Church of Granite City and enjoyed her days of tending to her house, gardening and crocheting afghans. She cherished her grandchildren and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family.

She married Cloyd Burris on September 22, 1934 in Madison and he passed away on September 27, 2001.

In addition to her beloved husband of 67 years and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David Lee Burris; a daughter, Marge Harshbarger; step-father, Roscoe Snider; two brothers, Ray Yackel and Edwin Yackel; a step-sister, Verna Snider and a step-brother, Virgil Snider.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Burris of Granite City; seven grandchildren, Diana (Dan) Willsmyer of Maryville, Terry (Sherry) Burris of Granite City, Barbara (Robbie) Gavelitt of Granite City, Debby (Gary) Love of Noble, Illinois, Randy (Chris) Botkin of Chicago, Scott (Amy) Botkin of Noble, Illinois and Tricia (Scott) Coleman of Granite City; eight great grandchildren, Todd (Kristin) Love, Ashley (Nick) Bryarly, Tyler Botkin, Chelsey (Alex) Bayler, Kristen (Tommy) Collins, Justin (Courtney) Gavelitt and Matthew Burris; thirteen great-great grandchildren, Parker, Abigail, Isabella, Cameron, Carter, Tucker, Connor, Paige, Holly, Reagan, Brylee, Calen and Sam; other extended family and friends.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 8, 2018 with Reverend Ben Ritz officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and may be accepted at the funeral home.
