Charles R. “Bud” Lybarger, 90 of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Cedarhurst in Edwardsville, Illinois.
Charles was born on October 8, 1927 in Madison, Illinois; the son of the late Charles A. and Nancy E. (Jones) Lybarger. Charles was a superintendent for Helmkamp Construction in Wood River, Illinois and worked in the family business at Lybarger Materials in Granite City, Illinois. The United States Navy veteran proudly served his country during WW II and was a former member of Nameoki Presbyterian Church. Charles was a member and past Exalted Ruler of the Granite City Elks Lodge 1063 and was a loyal member of the First Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville. Charles loved to play golf and was an active member of the Cardinal Golf Course at Lake Sara, Effingham. But most of all Charles loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Charles is survived by and will be missed by his wife; Nova “Jene” (Best) Lybarger of Glen Carbon, Illinois; his son, Ramond “Ray” (Kathy) Lybarger of Bettendorf, Iowa; his daughters, Linda (Roy) Logan of Granite City, Illinois, Sue (Richard) Kasbeer of Monterey, California, Sara Albers of Edwardsville, Illinois; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald Lybarger of Summerfield, Florida; sister, Janice Rice of Maryville, Illinois.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter; Bette Jean “B.J.” Lybarger; his 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
In celebration of Charles’s life, a memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m. with military rites at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Alzheimer’s Association.
