Charles G. "Chuck" Worster, 86, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at The Fountains in Granite City. He was born December 1, 1928 in Granite City, a son of the late George Worster and Ida Mae (Pfeiffer) King. He married Shirley Jean (Weir) Worster on March 16, 1951 at the Third Baptist Church in Granite City and she passed away on November 1, 2007. He retired in 1994 from the St. Louis Housing and Urban Development after over 20 years of dedicated service as an inspector. The United States Navy veteran proudly served his country during the Korean War. Chuck was a dedicated and faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Granite City where he had served many years as a Deacon. He was a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association and many pinochle clubs. He enjoyed working with stained glass and collecting stamps and coins. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their many sporting events. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly S. and Paul Hoff of O'Fallon, Illinois and Kellye S. and Brian Holtgrave of St. Rose, Illinois; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin S. and Sonia Worster of Granite City; eight grandchildren, Danyelle and Daniel Nygard, Brittany Hoff and Josh Charles, Josh Worster, Sarah Worster, Katie Holtgrave, Abby Holtgrave, Taylor Holtgrave and Zachary Holtgrave; five great grandchildren, Tyler Torres, Madison Hearn, Brandon Nygard, Alaya Nygard and James Nygard; other extended family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Mae Prudham.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2015 with Reverend Dr. Trent McDaniel officiating.
