Charles C. "Curt" Williams, 82, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 11:35 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born March 1, 1929 in New Baden, Illinois, the son of the late Melvin and Iona (Knipp) Williams. He married Irene V. (Bartosiak) Williams on July 23, 1956 in Tunica, Mississippi and she preceded him in death on December 19, 1996. He retired in 1988 from Granite City Steel after 39 years of dedicated service as a steel analyst. The United States Army veteran proudly served his country during the Korean War. He enjoyed his days of fishing and working on his Christmas tree farm and was a bird enthusiast.
He is survived and will be missed by one daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Bill Darte of Belleville; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Daniel and Karen Williams of Denver, Colorado and Thomas Williams of Granite City; three grandchildren, Sarah Williams, Erin Darte and Amy Darte; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Lucille Mangoff of Granite City and Carol and Don Grebel of Tempe, Arizona; sister-in-law, Betsy Bartosiak of Godfrey; nieces; nephews and friends.
