Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Arbeiter, nee Hanson, 83, of Granite City, Ill., born May 8, 1933, in Murphysboro, Ill., died Thursday, August 18, 2016, in Granite City, Ill.
Betty was a homemaker, member of Hope Lutheran Church in Granite City, Ill., an avid bowler winning three gold ribbons in Senior Olympics, played on several softball teams and went to State Tournament, named class athlete at Murphysboro High School, where she graduated in 1951, member of Granite City Sports Hall of Fame, previously was a clerk at Granite City Trust, and loved sewing, quilting, embroidering, and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Karlson and Ethel Irene, nee Judd, Hanson; spouse, Charles Vernon Arbeiter; and brothers, Karlson, Henry, Robert, James, and Arthur Hanson.
Surviving are her son, Steven William Arbeiter of Sorento, Ill.; daughter, Katherine Lee (Dennis) Arbeiter Chovanec of Sulphur, La.; and grandchildren, Jessie Sophia (Isaiah Fasske) Blanchard of Portland, Or.; Sarah Elizabeth (Joshua) Blanchard Ordoyne of Lake Charles, La, Craig Allan Blanchard II of Austin, Tx., and Ian Nesbit of Granite City, Ill.
Memorials may be made to Hope Lutheran Church childrens programs, or the Good Samaritan House, both in Granite City, Ill.
Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 22, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill., and 11 to noon on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1915 Pine Street, Murphysboro, Ill.
Funeral: A celebration of her life will be held at noon on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the church, with Rev. Joe Hoem, and Rev. Alan Beuster officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, Murphysboro, Ill.
