Betty Lou Williams, of Granite City, Illinois, born November 27, 1924, in Granite City passed away at 3:47 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in Granite City.
Betty lived in Granite City nearly all her life except for a few years in northern California and Charleston, South Carolina. Betty and her husband, Jim, retired and moved back to Ocala, Florida where they lived together until moving back to Granite City in November 2010. Jim and Betty were married for 67 years. Jim passed away in January 2011.
Betty was a retired secretary from the Granite City school district. She was a devoted member of Niedringhaus United Methodist Church in Granite City and the Ocala West United Methodist Church in Ocala, Florida. Betty was a fabulous mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to sing solos in the church choir, and she taught her daughters the life-long skills of sewing and crafting. Although not a gardener, she loved the beauty of flowers.
Surviving are her children: daughter, Nancy (Ron) Brink and their sons, Stephen Brink, and Matthew (Kerry) Brink; and their daughters, Kailey and Addison; daughter, Barbara (Jerry) Lapinski, and their daughter, Kristin (Todd) Green; and their son, Liam; son, Glenn (Sandy) Williams and their daughter, Kelly (Mark) Marino; and their daughter, Jackie (Zach) Vize and son, Brent Williams; daughter, June (Kevin) Zesch; and their daughter, Natalie (Joe) Canale and son, Kory Zesch; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and many friends.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until service at 1:00 p.m.
Private family burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
