Barbara A. Hargrove, 79, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Monday, November 27, 2017 at her home.
She was born February 9, 1938 in Granite City, a daughter of the late Clarence and Minnie (Key) Clay.
She married Wesley E. Hargrove on October 12, 1957 in Madison and he passed away on August 29, 1992.
She was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 46 years and enjoyed dancing with several groups. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting and being with her family and friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Kelly Lange of Granite City; a son, Gregory (Linda Adkins) Hargrove of Granite City; six grandchildren, Julie (Josh) Steinkamp, Steven Lange, Kenneth Hargrove, Elizabeth Hargrove, Billie Hargrove and William Hargrove; three great grandchildren, Aidyn and Bryce Steinkamp and Kaleah Hargrove; a brother, Floyd “Premo” (Kay) Clay of Granite City; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William “Bill” Hargrove; a brother, Clarence “Bud” Clay and two sisters, Mary “Tiny” Kissel and Edna “Tootsie” Williams.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. with Sister Linda Hylla officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
Memorials may be made to the Illinois Center of Autism and may be accepted at the funeral home.
