Arlene F. Woodson, 75, of Granite City and originally of Madison, Illinois passed away at 6:26 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. She was born October 8, 1936 in Granite City, a daughter of the late John and Antonia (Dusek) Petrosky Sr. She married Dale R. Woodson Sr. on October 23, 1955 in Mississippi, and he passed away on July 30, 1972. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Sophie (Kurosz) Petrosky.
She retired as a senior stenographer in 1996 from AT&T after 19 years of dedicated service with Southwestern Bell. She is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by her eight children and their spouses, Connie and Joe Gaeta of St. Louis, Dale R. Woodson Jr. of St. Louis, Gary and Debi Woodson of Granite City, Sheila and John Bilich of Granite City, Sandra "Sandy" and John Bisto of Granite City, James "Jim" and Maryann Woodson of Granite City, David and Rhonda Woodson of Granite City and Christine "Chrissy" Woodson of Collinsville; nineteen grandchildren, Joseph "Tony" and his wife, Katie, Michael, Angela, Dale "D.J.", Jason, Daniel, Ryan, Mark, Justin, Erika, Andrew, Dennis, Carrie, Bryan, Lauren, Leah, Emily, Brianna and Michael; two great grandchildren, Carter and Hudson; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Pat Petrosky Jr. of Edwardsville and Robert "Bob" and Barb Petroksy of Edwardsville; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, April 19, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m.
A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Manny Cuizon as celebrant. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and may be accepted at the funeral home.
