Alta Lucille "Lou" Wilson, 82 of Granite City passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.
Alta was born on July 25, 1932 in Altus, AR; a daughter to the late Johnny Floyd Barnes and Nettie (Barnette) Vandeveer Cuvar. Alta was a life long homemaker and mother. She was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. In her free time she enjoyed gardening and artistic painting. She will be remembered for her kind heart and all the special times she shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by and will be missed by her husband; David L. Wilson, whom she married on November 6, 1954; her daughters, Crystal and (Ellis) Hankins of Granite City, Cathie and (Vince) Martinez of Granite City; her sons, David and (Kathy) Wilson Jr. of Granite City, Steve and (Chrissy) Wilson of Granite City; grandchildren, Annessa Skouby, Vincent Martinez, Luke Wilson, Leah Wilson, David Wilson III; 3 great grandchildren; her sister, Johnnie Williams; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her half brother, Bill.
In celebration of her life a private immediate family memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2015 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the service to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 2801 Madison Ave. in Granite City with Fr. Chris Comerford officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Granite City A.P.A.
